Choices: How
the Offices were
Selected
Glynn and Ruben
realized that
one of them
should do
business in
Searcy, because
Searcy was their
hometown, and
one should be in
the Little Rock
area.
Glynn and Ruben
both wanted to
be the one that
would go to
Searcy, Arkansas
and operate
their business
from the
"hometown". The
reason was
obvious. By all
logic, the one
operating from
Searcy,
Arkansas. should
be able to grow
their business
faster and
easier. So there
was a dilemma:
which of them
was to go to
Searcy? How was
this to be
decided?
Glynn and Ruben
flipped a coin
on the hood of
their service
truck in North
Little Rock.
Ruben won and
went to Searcy
to operate his
business. Glynn
soon realized
that to stay in
Little Rock and
service the
Little Rock,
Benton, Hot
Springs, and
Malvern areas,
really made him
the truly "lucky
one".
Later, as Jimmy
and Elmo came in
to the business,
the Arkansas
River was used
as a territorial
marker to
separate the
different
office's
territories.
This system is
still in place
today.
